Solid surface (also known by various brand names, including Corian, Krion, HiMacs and Avonite) is an ideal material choice for bespoke reception desks and other workplace or hospitality furniture. It is non-porous and highly durable, which makes it hygienic, easy to maintain and, should it become scratched or worn over time, easily repairable.

Unlike many other furniture materials, solid surface can be cast or thermoformed into almost any shape, which makes it incredibly versatile, able to create even the most unusual or sculptural of forms. Aesthetically, solid surface can be engineered to mimic natural stone finishes such as marble or granite, as well as coloured to complement, or contrast with, any design scheme.

Corian is a brand of solid surface material created by DuPont and invented in 1967 by Donald Slocum.
